A documentary about the making of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot

15 of Canada’s top actors star in this exciting Canadian premiere for six shows only!

Toronto, ON... The play is a time-bending serio-comic drama in an imagined world between Heaven and Hell that re-examines the plight and fate of The New Testament's most infamous and unexplained ultimate sinner. Throughout the play, figures ranging from "Pontius Pilate" to "Sigmund Freud" are called to testify in a trial of "God and the Kingdom of Heaven and Earth versus Judas Iscariot." Characters modeled from the most contemporary of human clay draw on sound theological doctrine with the searing dialogue and argument that has brought Guirgis acclaim as one of the most ground-breaking and raw voices of our times.

Director David Ferry innovatively sets this depressed portal of the underworld in the Distillery’s Fermenting Cellar warehouse with a large cast of Canada’s top actors including Diego Matamoros as Satan, Camilla Scott as Henriette Iscariot, Paul Braunstein as Jesus, Philip Akin as Pontius Pilate, Aviva Armour Ostroff as Gloria and Mother Theresa, Stuart Arnott as St. Peter , Tim Campbell as Butch Honeywell, Brendan Gall as Bailiff/Simon the Zealot, Garnet Harding as Judas Iscariot, Zorana Kydd as Mary Magdalene, Frank Moore as Judge Littlefield, Alon Nashman as Sigmund Freud, Irene Poole as Cunningham, Cara Ricketts as Saint Monica and Sanjay Talwar as El-Fayoumy.

Joining Mr. Ferry on the creative team is set and lighting designer Glenn Davidson, costume designer April Viczko, sound designer Nicholas Murray, stage manager Alison Peddie and assistant stage manager Lesley Humphrey.

The Last Days of Judas Iscariot is produced by Birdland Theatre Inc. – Artistic Producer Zorana Kydd and Producer Monica Esteves.
