Birdland Young Actor Awards

BirdLand Young Actor Award for 2011 Winner: David Coomber

Since graduating from Ryerson Theatre School in 2010, David's credits include: Clint in Bullet for Adolf (dir. Woody Harrelson), Young Ebenezer in Scrooge, the Musical (Rose Theatre), and Jordan Tannahill's Post Eden (2010 Summerworks Festival). David made his professional debut at the age of 10 in Marti Maraden's production of The Secret Garden at the National Arts Centre. His other NAC credits include: Ibsen's An Enemy of the People (dir. Marti Maraden), Angel Square, Everything in the Garden (dir. David William), and Love's Labour's Lost. He also appeared in the world premiere of Dave Carley's The Last Liberal at the Great Canadian Theatre Company. Upcoming: Mark in RENT (Fallen Rock Productions); 'Midsummer in Oxford' Shakespeare Intensive (Oxford University).

In 2007 and 2008 BirdLand Young Actor Award supported Dora Mavor Moore Award for the Outstanding Set Design in the Independent Theatre Division.

Birdland Theatre is proud to announce that Allan Hawco is the recipient of the Second BirdLand Young Actor Award for his portrayal of Harry Carney in "A Whistle in the Dark" by Tom Murphy.

1st Annual BirdLand Young Actor Award recipient:
Matthew Edison
Birdland Theatre is proud to announce that Matthew Edison is the recipient of the First BirdLand Young Actor Award for his brilliant performance in Peter Schafer's "Amadeus" (2003).
